11 Days Kenya and Tanzania Safari

Highlights

This itinerary combines Kenya’s Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli 6 day’s safari and Tanzania’s 4 days safari.

Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara

You will be picked from your hotel or airport at an agreed time in the morning, come to the office to clear your balance and be briefed about your safari. Then depart from Nairobi, with the first stop at the Great Rift Valley to view the beautiful scenery and take some photos. Proceed to Narok where you will be having your lunch then proceed to Maasai Mara, check in to the camp or lodge and proceed for an evening game drive.

Day 2: Maasai Mara Full Day

After breakfast, proceed for a full day game viewing in this rich tree studded savannah grassland, which has over 450 species of wildlife, and great herds of wildebeests and zebras. It is very hard to miss spotting the Big 5 animals on this full day.

This reserve is the best park in Kenya as it is covered by a rich network of roads which brings you closer to the animals for a close range viewing. You will have your lunch along Mara River, viewing the hippo pool and also where the great wildebeest migration takes place.

In the evening go back to the lodge or camp. Optional activities like the balloon safari and the Maasai village visit are done on this day.

Day 3: Maasai Mara – Lake Nakuru

You will have a pre-breakfast game drive in the park, then come back to the camp or lodge, take breakfast then check out, proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park. You will arrive in the park in the evening, check in to the hotel or lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Amboseli

After breakfast proceed for a game drive in this bird sanctuary, this park is often referred to as the pink lake due to the presence a great number of birds’ species. Here you will see great flock of flamingoes and also other game animals like water buck, black and white rhino, buffaloes and zebras.

Then later proceed to Amboseli National Park, arriving in the evening, check in to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Amboseli Full day

After breakfast you will have a full day game drive in this park which has swampy grounds in which elephants and hippos swim. This park commands a panoramic view of the tallest mountain in Africa, Mt Kilimanjaro. This park has an endless underground water supply filtered through thousands of volcanic rocks.

This day you can also visit the Maasai Village in Amboseli.

Day 6: Amboseli – Arusha

Have a pre-breakfast game drive, then drive to Namanga border with lunch en-route for immigration formalities, a shuttle bus will pick you from there to Arusha in Tanzania. Our manager from the Tanzanian side will pick you from bus and drop you to a hotel booked on bed and breakfast.

Day 7: Arusha – Lake Manyara

You will be picked from your hotel after breakfast and depart to Lake Manyara, with lunch en-route, for a game drive at this park, famously known for its tree climbing lions and great flamingo flocks. Dinner and overnight at a campsite or lodge.

Day 8: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro

After breakfast descend 2000ft (670 M) into the crater floor with your picnic lunches, spend a full day at Ngorongoro National Park with a lunch break at a picnic site. The main crater is 165km and contains populations of varied species like black manned lions, rhinos, buffaloes, elephants and other animals. Dinner and overnight at the campsite or lodge.

Day 9: Ngorongoro – Serengeti

After breakfast and your final game drive, leave Ngorongoro for Arusha with an option of passing via Ol duvai gorge (At an extra cost) to see where the remains of the pre-historic man were discovered by Dr. Leaky, then proceed to Serengeti national park. Dinner and overnight at the campsite or lodge.

Day 10: Serengeti – Arusha

After breakfast and final game-drive in Serengeti, known for the great annual wildebeest migration and many animals, depart for Arusha with lunch en-route. You will be dropped off at a hotel in Arusha booked on bed and breakfast.
